Bonita Alice has been an exhibiting artist and educator since the mid 1980′s. She studied Fine Art in Johannesburg and completed a Masters Degree in Cape Town, working mostly in three-dimensions. She lectured in Fine Art until 2003, relocating to London in 2007.
She has been preoccupied for many years with emotional connection to place. Her most recent works are drawings and paintings that involve strange landscapes and beings that inhabit them uncomfortably, often with a sense of something precarious and threatening. Her explorations focus now primarily on interior places … our emotional lives which are linked crucially to the external but are usually only half-acknowledged.
